Liveblog - #RBStormStalkers – North Texas Weather Liveblog – September 28-29, 2021

#NorthTexas #Weather Situation – Tuesday, Sep 28, 2021:

Warm & more humid with a nice change – namely, a return to some active weather here in the region. Scattered showers & storms have become the thing in the southwestern part of the region. This activity will spread NE over the rest of the evening, expand, & persist over the next few days – likely, through Saturday, with activity peaking during the day & minimizing at night – generally.

Expect the main storm direction to be from SW-NE, or W-E. Concerns: heavy rain, lightning, small hail, somewhat gusty winds. Truly severe weather appears to be a remote, though not zero, risk.

Otherwise, expect variably cloudy skies with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s/low 70s, humid, with winds outside of storms between 5-15 mph mainly from the South or Southeast.

  • severe

Whelp, y’all – correction: the strongest storms may produce up to ping pong hail and winds to 60+. Note the storm straddling Young and Jack Counties, especially.

Be aware of this possibility – Young, Jack, Palo Pinto, and the Western halves of Wise and Parker Counties.

  • this evening

Storms currently developing in the Big Country & Western North Central Texas will move east over the evening, reaching the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex by about 8pm or so. The dotted line shows where the storms will likely reach before they fall apart for the night – so East of the I-35 corridor, ain’t much likely except for some scattered sprinkles during the first half of the night.

Potentials for storms are heavy rain & lightning… winds 20-40 mph… &, in the strongest storms, hail to the size of nickels.

    Main direction is W-E.

  • today

#NorthTexas: Today’ll be quieter, with just isolated showers and storms. Potentials are heavy rain, lightning, & wind gusts to 40mph or so. A couple storms may become strong with hail to penny size and winds to 50mph or so. Main direction: SW-NE – so keep your eyes to the skies in that direction, y’all.

  • hail

it’s def looking like some of these storms will be hail producers. not giant hail, but still. look at the depth of this interior hail shaft:

  • fort worth update

shower dissipating as it moves towards the vicinity of downtown Fort Worth. be ready for a light shower in that area.

  • southwest of downtown fort worth

Southwest #FortWorth: it might be ’bouta rain, y’all. Check out how fast this storm popped up (note the radar timestamps)
